Adult Eye Exams
Experts recommend a yearly eye exam for any adult who wears prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses. Additional visits may be necessary based on age, risk factors and physical condition. If you don’t wear prescription vision correction, you still need an eye exam a minimum of every two years up to the age of 40. Over the age of 40 it is a good idea to have your eyes examined annually to check for common age-related eye problems such as presbyopia, cataracts and macular degeneration.
During a comprehensive “well” eye exam, your doctor will perform a refraction, this will determine your eyeglass prescription. They will also perform a healthy eye check, at which time your eyes are evaluated for overall health and risk factors of eye disorders and disease. Our comprehensive eye exams include a number of tests and procedures to examine and evaluate the health of your eyes and the quality of your vision. These tests range from simply reading an eye chart, to more complex testing that involves a high-powered lens used to examine the health of the inside of your eye.
